Girls are more likely to be influenced by anxiety than men, using a shocking 81% stating they’ve felt overwhelmed and not able to deal in the last year.
Even more worryingly, over a third party have been so worried they’ve felt suicidal, and 18% have self-harmed.
These data came from the country’s biggest anxiety survey, conducted by the Mental Health Foundation and questioning over 4,600 individuals.
While girls are worst affected, guys don’t have a simple time with 67% feeling overwhelmed and 29% contemplating suicide due to anxiety.
The causes of anxiety also demonstrated a gender divide, with women saying than private finance was the largest reason for 43%, although 41% of men felt that the pressures of work caused the largest impact.
The survey revealed that younger folks are fighting also, together with 18 into 24-year-olds more worried than their own parents.
‘Stress is one of the great public health challenges of our time, but it still isn’t taken as seriously as physical health issues,’ says charity manager Isabella Goldie.
‘Stress is a significant factor in mental health problems. It is also linked to physical health problems like heart disease, problems with our immune system, insomnia and digestive problems.’
